This necklace, featuring a bronze crescent earth, was inspired by the famous “Earthrise” photo. During the first manned mission to the. moon in 1968, the astronauts held a live broadcast from lunar orbit, in which they showed a photo of earth taken from their spacecraft on the moon’s surface. It showed the Earth in a waxing phase like we see the moon from down here. During the broadcast, astronaut Jim Lovell said, "The vast loneliness is awe-inspiring and it makes you realize just what you have back there on Earth."
