September is almost here: the kids are shuffling back to school, autumn is waiting in the wings, and...it’s almost my birthday. Not that I’m excited about turning another year older, but this time of year holds a special place in my heart because it’s Virgo season and I get to proudly don my September birthstone necklace.

Sapphires, along with rubies, are a type of corundum — a mineral that is naturally hard and transparent (insert your favorite Virgo joke here).
